MONTANA CROSS COUNTRY “T” ASSN.
FALL ANNUAL MTG. NOVEMBER 4, 2000
GREAT FALLS, MONTANA
The Annual Fall Meeting was brought to order at 11 a.m. November 4th, by Vice President Stan Howe. Members present were Stan Howe, Nan Robison, Sam Nickol, Rick and Carla Carnegie, Tom and Suzie Carnegie, Scott Stubbert, Tony and Janet Cerovski, George Nickol, Jeremy Gunderson, Josh Billmayer, Doug Langel.
Guests present were Mike and Dave Robison.
A Treasurer report was given. The minutes of the 1999 meeting were read and approved.
Tony Cerovski made a motion to make the Unofficial Montana 500 website, www.antiqueautoranch.com/montana500 the Official Montana 500 website. Seconded and approved. Tom Carnegie will continue to be webmaster. Was discussed, and decided not to buy our own domain at this time, but rather continue to use www.antiqueautoranch.com
ELECTION OF NEW OFFICERS:
Elected for President: Sam Nickol
Vice President: Rick Carnegie
Treasurer: Janet Cerovski
Secretary: Carla Carnegie
Correspondence
Secretary: Tom Carnegie
Tony has said he will help Sam out, where needed, by phone or otherwise. Tom Carnegie will stay on as a Director, along with Rick Carnegie. A motion was made by George to continue to have treasurer be a voting Director for the Treasurer/Secretary position. Secretary and Correspondence Secretary will not be director positions unless otherwise elected. Scott seconded and was passed. George Nickol’s term will expire in 2002. He was re-elected by ballot. The other Directors remaining are: Doug Langel, Stan Howe, Simon Nickol, Tony Cerovski.
RACE ROUTE:
Stan made motion to run out of Kalispell area in 2001. Janet seconded. There were 6 for and 6 against, with Sam Nickol breaking the tie vote. So, race will go from the Kalispell area.
Motion made for Tour Day by Tony C. as optional.  George seconded and was passed.
When registrations are mailed out, there will be a suggestion vote as to the Tour Route with the decision made the first day of the race. DATES:  Jun 17, cars arrive and inspected. June 18-20 RACE. June 21, TOUR.
RULE CHANGES:
  • A.  Motion made by George to add rule “All T’s must be assembled from stock parts or reproduction parts equal to stock specifications. Cars must have four fenders, splash aprons, runningboards, front splash apron, dash, and radiator shell and all replacement body parts must be made of metal, with the following exceptions:” seconded by Tom C. and passed.
  • B.  Motion made by Tom to add rule: “Fuel Line not to exceed 3/8″ I.D.” seconded and passed
  • C.  Rule 23 as it exists: Only stock cast iron or aluminum intake manifolds with ports not to exceed 1 1/8″ diameter allowed. New manufactured exhaust manifolds with ports not to exceed 1 1/8″ are allowed. Motion was made to strike the word “exhaust”. Seconded and passed.
  • D.  Motion was made to clarify whether aluminum and cast-iron were two class or raced head to head in one class. Aluminum and cast iron are one class. Seconded and passed.
  • E.  Discussed camshaft end-play thrust washers. Though several people are using them no rule was made one way or the other to specifically allow them.
  • F.  Rule 34 as it exists: Zerk fittings in place of oil and grease cups are optional. Move to strike rule 41. Seconded and passed.
  • G.  Much discussion on specifics of line boring the engine main bearings. The possibility of someone rotating the main-line around the radius of the camshaft was brought up. No rule was made to address this. Motion was made to change rule 47 to say:”The crankshaft must be Model “T” Ford script with a stock stroke of four (4) inches. Chroming, hardening or grinding of the journals allowed, not to exceed 1.250” maximum or 1.208” minimum. Seconded and carried.
  • H.  Rule 53 as it exists: “Bonded type bands optional.” Motion was made to change rule to say: “Type of band material optional.” Seconded and carried.
  • I.  Rule 57 as it exists: “Adjustable lifters are optional.” Motion was made to change the rule to say: “Adjustable flat tappet (pushrods) are allowed.” Seconded and carried.
  • J.  Rule 63 as it exists: “Tour day mileage is mandatory. Cars not completing tour mileage will receive a 1 hour penalty.” Motion as made to strike rule 63. Seconded and carried.
  • K.  Rule 25 as it exists: “Only stock Ford roller type, NewDay or Anderson flapper type timers allowed. Quick couplers NOT ALLOWED in timer wires.” Motion was made to change rule to say: “ Correct for era type timers may be used.” Motion died for lack of a second.
NEW BUSINESS:
Discussed running a Speedster run concurrently with T run provided Speedster Club plans and runs their own race. Just be based out of same city and place as T run. No decision made.
Discussed sticking with June Run, or changing to another time in summer. Decided that June is still best time, August has too much traffic, and it can be very hot. Road construction can also be a major factor.
Received $25 from Stan Howe for payment Tour 2000.
